As I stated in my original idea for this project, I wanted to create a stressful scenario where the audience would experience a form of higher heart rate.
The beginning and end of the piece were designed to be a little bit more soothing, with the beginning having a few ominous sounding sounds to elevate heart rate and mystery a little bit.
After, I wanted to create the sense of an alien abduction. I got inspiration for this from hearing the section of the person waiting for their airplane and thought that might be a cool piece to fiddle around with. I tried doing a bunch of different effects to make it sound more alien-like. If I had more time, I would have fine tuned it even more, but I think that ultimately the piece was successful in giving people a sense of confusion and stress and then ending back in a lower tempo in order to bring the audience back to a cool calm.
Some classmates mentioned that they were unsure of where the piece was heading, and I think that it valid. I could have definitely made some things sound a bit more alien-esque.
I tried to make some parts of the piece sound like a space ship hurtling through space, but because I am not that familiar with the software, I wasn’t entirely sure of what effects to use. This was a fun and interesting project and definitely forced me to think outside of the box.
